A friend and I joked recently that we both have a lipstick obsession because we are useless when it comes to eye makeup. It’s true that I’m pretty much a one trick pony in the eye department, so it makes sense that my lipstick collection dwarfs my eye shadow collection. That said, I’m so happy to have added Axiology to the mix. When I first peeped Axiology, a new non-toxic lipstick line that caught my eye as one of the A Night For Green Beauty brands, I was totally smitten with the bold colors, chic packaging and clean ingredients. Little did I know, the packaging is even more fun in real life. Rather than pulling the top off the tube, you simply press the bottom of the tube in and it clicks to release the tube from the lid. It’s sort of like clicking a retractable pen, and it is so fun!
The Axiology lipsticks I tried apply smoothly with a fairly opaque and matte finish. It doesn’t require a lot of layering to get great color payoff. One swipe around the lips will do, and application is easy because of the conditioning formula. This is definitely a classic lipstick in terms of look and wear, but rest assured that you’ll do no harm if you eat a little of it throughout the day (women are purported to eat a lot of lipstick throughout life—some say up to 6 pounds!). The base ingredient list is simple and pure:
Organic Candelilla Wax, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Organic Mango Butter, Organic Avocado Butter, Organic Grape Seed Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Sweet Orange Oil
I’ve been wearing two Axiology colors—Noble and Infinite. Noble is described as a light pink with peach undertones. I’d say that’s about right, though it pulls more peachy on my lips. It’s a fabulous daytime color since it’s a little subdued while still giving you that polished, put-together look that works well when you don’t want to wear a ton of makeup otherwise. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Infinite, a truly bold color described as having red and purple tones. This appears as a deep burgundy on my lips with the perfect balance of red, purple and brown. There is enough purple in it that it doesn’t turn into a brick red, but not enough purple to make it a deep berry. It’s quite unique. In fact, both colors are different than anything I have, and I love that. I’m looking forward to trying more from Axiology, and I am especially excited to have a new recommendation for vegan beauty lovers since this lipstick is not only cruelty-free, but 100% vegan—no beeswax!
Axiology launches at Integrity Botanicals this week! Check back Thursday for an interview with the founder and a giveaway.
