The Best Creams for Dry Hands

handcreams

Do you keep hand creams stashed around your house, office and in your handbags? So do I. Do you find your hands feel dry no matter how many applications of moisturizer you rub in? This is where our experience may differ—I happily don’t have that issue anymore. I’m a frequent hand washer (life gets messier with dogs, and city living naturally requires quite a bit of hand sanitation), so I use hand creams all throughout the day. To maintain a place in my routine, these creams must do the following: heal, hydrate and protect; absorb quickly; and smell amazing.

Thinking back to the conventional hand moisturizers I used before learning about the toxins in our everyday products, it’s interesting how frequently I would replace hand creams simply because they didn’t work—even the “intensely healing” creams. When it comes to getting the job done, there is a huge difference between conventional hand creams with their petroleum based ingredients and weird emulsifiers and natural hand creams with rich botanical butters and oils that have an affinity with your skin.

If you’re still searching for the perfect natural hand creams to stave off dryness and leave your hands feeling comfortable and soothed, here are my picks for the best creams for dry hands.

Bottega Organica Extra Nourishing Hand Formula—This hand treatment is super unique in that it’s more like a rich serum. The silky blend of organic shea butter, beeswax and extra virgin olive oil has been infused with medicinal herbs and organic essential oils. It includes their signature anti-aging ingredients—golden and prawn sage. The orange scent is refreshing. You only need a little bit of this formula for nourished hands that feel protected through any task.

Bottega Organica Hand Regenerate Cream—I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy using hand cream from a pot, but I’ve loved this cream so much it’s almost gone and I’m certain I need more in my life. The consistency is the same as Bottega’s gorgeous face creams—rich and buttery yet easy to spread and quick to absorb. With its fresh lavender and frankincense scent, I feel my shoulders relax every time I apply this cream. It’s a real treat, and if I had to pick one hand cream to use for the remainder of my days, this is it.

Osmia Organics Vanilla Shea Hand Cream—There’s much to love about this delicious hand cream from Osmia. It smells incredible but the scent is soft and not overpowering (check out the gorgeous Linden Rose variety, too). It absorbs faster than any natural cream I’ve tried yet really hydrates and protects. Plus, it comes in a small pump bottle that is easy to toss in your purse or gym bag. I love that the formula includes hydrolyzed oats to help soften and soothe dry, cracked hands.

  1. Oh my gosh I need to pick one of these up. My hands are absolutely suffering so badly this winter! I have to wash my hands so often at work so I need something that will really work. Thanks for the recommendations!
